Long overdue

So we're long overdue to put together some sort of blog, but I think it's time now since we're having a baby and we'll want to share all of the exciting news. No promises, but I'll try to put things up here as often as possible. For anyone who doesn't know, Karen's 13 weeks pregnant, and the baby is due August 2nd. We'll leave Istanbul in mid- to early-June, and so far we plan to have the baby in Dallas. We're really looking forward to being back and living in America again.

We had a doctor's appointment last Tuesday, January 22nd, and we got to see little Baby D for the second time via ultrasound, and especially 3-D ultrasound. I was very excited. He or she is 60.4 mm long, and very healthy. All the little fingers and toes are there. The doctor gave us a printout of the sonogram just like last time, too.

In other news, our 5th anniversary was Friday, January 25th. We went to a little Italian restaurant nearby, nothing too fancy, but just had a nice, quiet evening together. We ordered a laptop from Dell as a gift to ourselves. It doesn't seem like we've been married that long, but our wedding seems like forever ago!

I'm still hard at work training for the half marathon in Tarsus March 30th. Saturday, I ran 10 miles--a new milestone, the farthest I've ever run. But it's not that special when I consider that just 2 weeks earlier, the 6.5 miles I ran was the farthest. I still can't believe I'm able to run this far. It's a nice feeling.

Enough about me. Karen's great, getting very excited about being pregnant and all of the things that come with it (moving into the maternity clothes means license to shop!). She's been doing really well with the morning sickness (misnomer--all-day sickness), and has been eating really healthy, drinking lots of milk. We just got a few packages in the mail with lots of maternity clothes, and Karen can't wait to have a reason to try them out.

Well, I think that's enough for now. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

Byron
